On February 10, 2017, on celebrating the Lunar New Year 2017, the Intellectual Women’s Association of Ho Chi Minh City (IWAH) organized a spring meeting to review the activities implemented in 2016.

The Trung Sisters’ Resistance and its Inspiration for Future Generations

On the occasion of the annual memorial day of February 6 by the Lunar calendar to commemorate the two Trung Sisters, the Gender and Society Research Center (GAS) of Hoa Sen University organized a seminar on March 3, 2017 with the theme: “The Trung Sisters’ Resistance and its Inspiration for Future Generations” presented by the guest speaker Tran Viet Ngac, historian.

Intervention Program for Improving Women’s and Girls’ Quality of Life

Sexual harassment against women and girls is currently widespread in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). Their workplace and living conditions are being threatened by not only thieves but also by sexual harassment even in crowded areas.

On December 9, 2016 the National Committee for the Advancement of Women (NCFAW) in Viet Nam, in collaboration with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), organized a workshop entitled “Intervention Program for Improving the Quality of Life for Women and Girls in Ho Chi Minh City”.

Social Work in Hospitals – The Theoretical Issues and Practice

Medical social workers play an important role in healthcare settings by addressing the needs of individuals and families. On November 26, 2016, the Department of Social Work, University of Social Sciences and Humanities of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) organized a seminar entitled “Social Work in Hospitals – The Theoretical Issues and Practice” with the representatives of agencies for healthcare, general hospitals, universities and vocational schools. The seminar also attracted researchers and staff in charge of social work in HCMC. It was an opportunity for participants to discuss and share their best social work practices in recent years.
